Just getting some time to get this thing cranked up again. Photos to add and stories to tell. Please bear with me.

Tony Hart

From the BBC
The TV presenter, famous for hosting BBC children's programmes such as Vision On and Take Hart, has died aged 83 after a long illness. What are your memories of him?

Mr Hart, who served as an officer in the 1st Gurkha Rifles in World War II, appeared on art programmes for nearly 50 years before retiring in 2001 because of health problems.

He first appeared on Saturday Special as an illustrator before fronting his own shows.

It was a chance meeting in 1952 with a BBC TV producer and a demonstration of his quick art skills on a paper napkin that secured his on-screen career.

Mr Hart suffered from health problems for a number of years, including two strokes. His family said he died peacefully.

Tony Hart was an inspiration to me. I was growing up, and liked holding a pencil, but was always frustrated by the way my pictures turned out. Tony showed me that things that start off looking a bit rough, can lead to better pieces and sometimes good comes from chaos. I watched from what must have been one of the last series' of Vision On, all through Take Hart - even when they introduced 'Doughey' as a friend for Morph...and the janitor bloke. Each time being more and more impressed by what this man could do with everything from ink to pencil, spray cans to random junk in a field.
I was saddened to hear a couple of months ago that after his last stroke, he couldn't draw any more. As an artist, I could only imagine what it would be like to have such a talent, but be held back in using it.
Thank you Tony, wherever you are, for what you achieved, and for the thousands upon thousands of people you inspired. Truly, truly a great loss.
